San Diego County’s wine story is older than most people think, and Orfila is its modern standard-bearer. Established in 1994 in the San Pasqual Valley — a protected agricultural valley about fifteen miles from the Pacific — the estate runs seventy acres of rolling hillside vines and has collected more than 1,300 medals in national and international competitions along the way.
A Temecula regular will feel at home fast: Orfila’s reputation rests on Rhône-style wines — the same Syrah-and-Viognier instincts that anchor Temecula’s own lists, grown in a different ocean-cooled valley. The visit is built for lingering: tastings on the patio and under the long covered pavilion, with the whole estate rolling away below.
